The Youth for Climate Adaptation (YfCA) conference will take place on January 22, 2021. A 24-hour Youth Summit that aims to bring young people from all over the world together, involve them in climate adaptation and let them decide. During the YfCA, the voice of the future speaks out!
The YfCA conference will be a 24-hour online event, allowing everyone around the world to participate, hosted from Groningen. During the day, lectures, workshops, and debates will take place. In addition, there will be a small-scale physical event in the city of Groningen.
The results of this Youth Summit on January 22 will be handed over to world leaders during the international Climate Adaptation Summit, which takes place on January 25, 2021. During this summit, world leaders come together to commit to specific actions around climate adaptation. The (international) representatives of youth will be allowed to prioritise certain topics.
The Global Center on Adaptation will draw up a Guidance Document in which they show how at a regional level the implementation of the (inter)national climate adaptation policy can best be tackled by young people. This will result in a call-to-action. The YfCA is still looking for regional ambassadors from the province of Groningen who will draw up a specific agenda for their own municipalities.
The YfCA is organised by youth, for youth! In various workgroups such as logistics, communication, impact, sustainability, program, international relations & networks, and online, a total of 60 young people participate with different cultural backgrounds and educational levels.
