UN Environment Programme

More and more countries are realizing that it is time to adapt to a warming world. The 2015 Paris Agreement includes for the first time a global and concrete adjustment plan. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is the global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the implementation of sustainable developments within the United Nations, and acts as an authoritative agenda-setter for the global environment. UN Environment Programme has carried out 50 projects on climate change adaptation at the global, regional and national level.

Priority areas

These main projects cover four priority areas:

Ecosystem-based adaptation - With the aim of implementing projects that make use of biodiversity and make ecosystem services part of your adaptation strategies.

Knowledge, analysis and networks - With the aim of disseminating essential adaptation knowledge, analysis and experiences through well-connected international networks.

World Adaptation Science Program - With the aim of providing an interface between the research community in the field of climate adaptation and policy makers.

National Adaptation Plans - With the aim of supporting countries to stimulate their approach to National Adaptation Plans.
